The delivery-day surprise
A new machine arriving at a space it cannot use is an expensive disappointment. Measure the planned position and the route into it before comparing features. Photograph the space so the installer can see what a sales-page image cannot show.
What capacity means
The capacity figure refers to the permitted load under the model’s stated conditions. It is not the outside size, and programme limits can differ. Bosch’s guide treats capacity and machine type as separate choices. Think about the loads you actually wash rather than always choosing the largest number.
Allow for the parts you do not see
Check the full depth, opening door and space required for connections. Do not squeeze hoses into a gap guessed from a catalogue photograph. Give the seller or installer the exact model and measurements, and ask what preparation and services the delivery includes.
Decide around your washing week
Write down the loads you run most often and which settings you use. Compare those needs with the manual, installation quote and delivery terms. Extra programmes matter less if the machine complicates a task that was meant to become easier.
Sources & method
Reference: Bosch’s washing-machine buying guide, “Welche Bosch Waschmaschine sollte ich kaufen?”, particularly its machine-type and load-capacity sections. Capacity is a laundry requirement to compare separately from the space available for installation.
Method: prepare a sheet of room, access-route and opening measurements, then compare the exact model’s installation instructions and programme limits with ordinary wash loads. No appliance was installed or performance-tested. A general buying guide cannot determine a model’s required hose or ventilation clearances.

Make a dimension sheet before comparing programmes
Installation space includes connections and opening movement.
Record the room’s available width, depth and height, then check the manufacturer’s required clearances for the exact model. Include hoses, connections, door movement and access for installation or maintenance. Measure the delivery route separately. A nominal cabinet depth is not always the complete installed depth, so use the installation drawing rather than a retailer’s single headline measurement.
Compare the full purchase and installation scope.
Ask which connections, delivery work, removal and accessories are included in the quote. Keep unspecified costs marked as unknown. Match the stated capacity and programmes to the laundry you actually do, without treating a larger number as automatically better. Electrical, water and drainage requirements should be checked against the appliance instructions and the property’s actual setup by a suitable installer where needed.
